For a child, illness can unleash a range of emotions. Children are not always able to express those emotions, or may simply choose not to. Kids Rock Cancer, a program created by Maryville University of St. Louis, uses the proven healing power of music therapy to help children give voice to their feelings. Using words and music, under the guidance of a certified music therapist, they discover a creative outlet for expressing whatever is on their mind.

By sharing their thoughts and feelings through song, the children hope to provide comfort and strength to families who face the uncertainties of a cancer diagnosis. We thank them for sharing these hones expressions in their own beautiful voices, and hope you will find encouragement in their messages. The children’s spirit and optimism have inspired the title: Just Beat It.
