Cancer Registries

Question: Are cancer registries reportable as community benefit?

Recommendation: Participation in cancer registries fall under Cancer Registries Amendment Act in 1992 and state laws, which requires hospitals to submit patient diagnosis and treatment for cancer to their state cancer registry.

We recommend you do not report cancer registries as community benefit as we consider this a cost of doing business and similar to other mandated reporting, i.e. certain infectious diseases, birth, death, gun shot wounds, etc.
