Medicaid Prayer Card
Believing that we are made in God's image means we are called to support those who are less strong and less powerful. Programs like Medicaid embody our collective commitment to the common good, solidarity, and the preferential option for those who are poor and vulnerable.

Pilgrims of Hope, On Hope and Healing — Prayer Card
In this 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope, Pope Francis encourages us to join together on a pilgrimage of hope, "In the heart of each person, hope dwells as the desire and expectation of good things to come, despite our not knowing what the future may bring." Hope is a vital component of serving Jesus’s healing ministry as optimism alone isn’t enough to transform hurt into hope.

Inspired by the Saints: Contemplations for the Catholic Health Ministry
In the Catholic tradition, we call on the communion of saints in prayer to accompany us in times of trial, celebration and everything in between. Theologian and Sister of St. Joseph Elizabeth Johnson uses the metaphor that the communion of saints can be imagined as a great stadium of people who have run, or are running, a great race. While we each independently approach the starting line, we are lifted by the love, encouragement, support and accompaniment of those who have gone before us, and who know well the challenges we are to face.

Hold Out Your Hand: Stories from the Catholic Health Care Effort During the Global AIDS Crisis
Hold Out Your Hand: Stories from the Catholic Health Care Effort During the Global AIDS Crisis is a compilation of oral histories and stories from women religious, priests and doctors who played crucial roles in caring for patients with HIV/AIDS during the early days of the global AIDS crisis. Pulled from the archival interviews of Michael O’Loughlin, national correspondent for America Media and host of America’s podcast Plague, Hold Out Your Hand showcases a series of personal stories from the Catholic health care front, from a sister navigating the relationship between activists and the church to a father holding healing masses for patients struggling in their fight with AIDS. These stories serve as powerful reminders of our shared vision for Catholic health care: To empower bold change by elevating human flourishing. Through these stories, we both celebrate the excellent work that has come before us and renew our resolve to care for the marginalized in our society. In doing so, we continue the healing ministry of Jesus and seek to build a society where all can flourish.

Health care is in a unique and critical position to play a leading role to address this growing crisis and improve the health of all Americans. We can make our facilities climate resilient and address the most vulnerable people that we serve. We can reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and toxic chemicals in our buildings and our supply chains. We can become messengers and advocates who educate their communities about the health benefits of clean energy. This is the heart of Catholic teaching. This is what it means to be part of God’s healing ministry. We need to live our mission to the fullest in these most perilous of times. Are you in with us?"

In honor of Pride Month and the LGBTQ+ family, friends, co-workers and patients we serve, let us pray the words of Jesus as he spoke to his disciples, teaching them the ways of the Kingdom. As co-creators called to collaborate with God to build God’s Kingdom, may we extend the lavish riches this blessing offers to all who seek the Holy One, and may we receive the depth of it for ourselves that we may fully appreciate and understand God’s ways.
