In 2021, the Vatican launched the Laudato Si’ Action Platform to encourage the Catholic Church to take concrete action to address the ecological crisis. This webinar will highlight the initiatives of two large U.S. Catholic health systems that joined the Platform, demonstrating their response to Pope Francis' call to care for creation.

  • Staff from Ascension will share their efforts to make their communities more climate resilient (highlighting a newly published Climate Resiliency Plan focusing on resiliency and emergency preparedness) and their healthy food access projects.
  • Staff from CommonSpirit Health will talk about their Climate Action Plan and how they embed sustainability into their purchasing processes and engage suppliers to provide products with a reduced impact on human health and the environment.
  • Speakers will also discuss how they have integrated sustainability into their everyday work and processes and offer insights on how other Catholic health ministries might adapt this approach in their organizations.
