Statement by Sister Mary Haddad, RSM, President & Chief Executive Officer
Catholic Health Association of the United States (CHA)
The Catholic Health Association of the United States (CHA) applauds Congressional and Administration negotiators for reaching agreement on an urgently needed third COVID-19 relief bill and urges swift passage of this important legislation.
CHA is grateful that the legislative package includes essential funding for hospitals across the country facing enormous financial challenges as they change their operations to focus on caring for COVID-19 patients. We are also very pleased that lawmakers recognize the urgent need to allocate resources to ensure more personal protective equipment gets to health care providers on the front lines responding to the pandemic as quickly as possible.
The Catholic health ministry is committed to serving their communities struggling with COVID-19 and meeting the needs of the most vulnerable. CHA pledges to continue working with Congress and the Administration to develop additional needed legislation to combat the pandemic and to address the many needs of the most poor and vulnerable people in our communities who are suffering greatly at this time.
