CHI board chair authors book on Pope Francis

November 1, 2013

Chris Lowney, the board chair of Englewood, Colo.-based Catholic Health Initiatives, has written a book on the leadership style of Pope Francis. Loyola Press published the 184-page Pope Francis: Why He Leads the Way He Leads.

In the book, Lowney analyzes the pope's leadership approach in the context of the pope's Jesuit background. Lowney includes anecdotes from Jesuits who knew Fr. Jorge Mario Bergoglio, SJ, before he became pope.

In developing the book, Lowney said he drew in part upon his own experience as a Jesuit seminarian. Lowney was a managing director for J.P. Morgan & Co. He now is a speaker, author and philanthropist.

According to his website, chrislowney.com, Lowney will donate half of the royalties from Pope Francis: Why He Leads the Way He Leads to four Jesuit projects serving the poor overseas.
