Carley
Jerry Carley, an executive in the senior care field, will become president and chief executive of Duluth, Minn.-based Benedictine Health System effective Jan. 3. Carley will replace Rocklon B. "Rocky" Chapin who announced in March his plans to retire in early January.
Benedictine is a nonprofit, Catholic health system sponsored by the Benedictine Sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery in Duluth. The system provides outpatient care and residential care along a care continuum for seniors in Minnesota, North Dakota, Missouri, Wisconsin and Illinois. Carley has been a member of the Benedictine Health System Board of Directors and its finance and strategy committees since 2015.
Carley, 48, is currently the president and chief executive of CSJ Initiatives, in Wichita, Kan. CSJ Initiatives owns and manages nonprofit senior care facilities; it was launched by the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph. A statement from Benedictine Health System says Carley led CSJ Initiatives in a multicampus, $85 million restructuring and expansion process.
In August of 2007, he became the chief operating officer for Via Christi Villages, a division of Via Christi Health in Wichita at the time Carley worked there. He became the chief executive of Via Christi Villages a little more than a year later; he was a senior vice president for Via Christi Health at the time, as well. Via Christi Villages provides residential care along a care continuum for seniors.
