A message from Daniel J. Daly Ph.D., S.T.L.,
executive director
There’s never been a more extraordinary — and yet challenging — time to work in health care. Modern medicine offers exciting applications for life-saving technologies, but increasingly, ethical ambiguity in matters that challenge the
very nature of our humanity in relation to God, each other, and ourselves.
Recognizing that Catholic health is a graced ministry, cooperating with God to heal the sick, the Center was created to address complex issues in health care so that providers may more effectively continue Jesus Christ's healing ministry.
We achieve our purpose through close relationships with leaders in Catholic health and the United States Catholic Bishops, and through dialogue with medical practitioners, patients, and members of vulnerable communities.
My hope is that we will contribute to a broader understanding of Catholic healthcare ethics by all people of goodwill, regardless of their faith, and that the Center will be a place of rigorous theological inquiry and intellectual charity in service of
Catholic health, the Church, and the world.
