Nursing National Nurses Week

Each year from May 6 to May 12, communities across the country recognize the invaluable work of nurses during National Nurses Week. This day is an important opportunity for Catholic health care to honor nurses for their compassionate, quality care. To honor our ministries' nurses, and to celebrate their gifts and talents, CHA is pleased to be able to share some resources that might be of use in your activities.

A Special Time of Blessing for Nurses

During this week of celebration, we invite nurses to reflect on their calling to the vocation of nursing through the brief guided meditation offered below. We deeply appreciate your embodiment of compassion, your provision of quality care and your commitment to recognizing the inherent value in every person, viewing each life as a sacred gift and acknowledging every human being as a unity of body, mind and spirit.

National Hospital & National Skilled Nursing Care Weeks

As we commemorate National Hospital & National Skilled Nursing Care Weeks, let us pause to reflect on the healing care of all those who serve patients, residents, and their loved ones within our facilities.

O Holy One,

In every moment of life, You are with us:
In health or in sickness,
In knowing or in waiting,
In poverty or brokenness,
Alone or together,
Body, mind or spirit –
There is nowhere we go where You are not also.

Bestow Your blessings upon Your children:
Those who need healing,
A special touch, a tender word, a miracle,
Provision, strength, permission, forgiveness,
Joy, hope or grace –
May the light of Your presence cast out all shadows and usher Your dear ones into life.

Make sacred these spaces of wholeness:
Vestibules and corridors,
Hallways and staircases,
Waiting rooms, exam rooms, consultation rooms,
Chapels and offices and cafeterias –
Bring healing within these walls; bring peace and presence and answers to prayer.

We ask this in Your name.
Amen.
