Statement on Health Care Reform

Statement by Sister Carol Keehan, DC, President & Chief Executive Officer
Catholic Health Association of the United States (CHA)

September 27, 2017 – The Catholic Health Association is pleased to hear Senator Lamar Alexander and Senator Patty Murray voicing a commitment to rejoin their efforts to craft bipartisan legislation that takes the first steps toward a more rational and comprehensive solution for our nation’s health care delivery system.

We are encouraged to hear other senators from both sides of the aisle supporting this initiative and pledge our cooperation and help towards the accomplishment of this noble objective.

An efficient health care delivery system that works for all is critical to the American public. Unfortunately, the debate over health reform has become embroiled in protracted, partisan disputes. But we now have the opportunity to begin a step-by-step process to stabilize the marketplace and allow time for the genius of the American people to craft a delivery system that maximizes the value of our health care spending and service to all Americans. It is time to get beyond the bitter rhetoric and begin anew to improve America’s health care.
