Slubowski will report to Dr. Richard Gilfillan, president and chief executive of the Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health system. Gilfillan will continue as chief executive of the health care system operating in 22 states. Slubowski will be responsible for operational and clinical activities across the system.

SCL Health's board of directors was working on a transition plan, including interim leadership, in late March, according to Christine Woolsey, SCL Health's senior vice president and chief communications and marketing officer.

Slubowski joined SCL Health in January of 2011 and oversaw the relocation of its headquarters from Lenexa, Kan., to the Denver area in 2012. SCL Health said he was instrumental in creating a unified structure and operating model to "leverage skill and scale" across SCL Health's three regions of Colorado, Kansas and Montana, according to a March 16 press release announcing Slubowski's departure. Under his leadership, SCL Health expanded strategic partnerships and expanded its offerings to include home health care, outpatient imaging and virtual health care, the system said.

Slubowski held several leadership roles at Trinity Health from 1997 to 2010. He said in a statement that he and his wife are looking forward to moving near family. He called himself blessed and privileged to serve alongside talented colleagues at SCL Health.
