Sr. Anne Virginie Grimes led Saint Raphael's ministries

Sr. Anne Virginie Grimes, SC, died July 14 at Saint Anne Villa in Convent Station, N.J., at age 84. Sr. Grimes had been a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth since 1949. She served in leadership roles with the Saint Raphael Health System of New Haven, Conn., and its ministries throughout her career. Saint Raphael is sponsored by the Sisters of Charity.

Sr. Grimes first served on the Hospital of Saint Raphael's board of trustees, and then as the New Haven hospital's administrator, and then as the president of its parent Saint Raphael Healthcare System. Sr. Grimes then was president of Saint Raphael's foundation and vice chairperson of the board.

"Sr. Anne was a powerful advocate for Saint Raphael's patients, staff, physicians and the greater New Haven community," said Christopher O'Connor, Saint Raphael's president and CEO. She helped to oversee significant expansion projects at Saint Raphael and helped support its outreach programs for the community.
