Ministry Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., plans to transition from its affiliation with Ascension Wisconsin — Ministry Health Care to a new organizational structure that will allow Ministry Door County Medical Center to continue to operate as a locally led and controlled hospital, according to a July 7 news release. The plans for the new organizational structure include a new partnership between Ministry Door County Medical Center and Hospital Sisters Health System.
Ministry Door County Medical Center and Springfield, Ill.-based Hospital Sisters Health System said they've signed a letter of intent for HSHS to enter into a minority interest affiliation with Ministry Door County Medical Center.
Gerald Worrick, president and chief executive of Ministry Door County Medical Center, said in a news release, "Because HSHS has a broad presence in northeast Wisconsin, with four hospitals and Prevea Health centers located throughout the region, we believe they are in the best position to be our partner in care going forward." Prevea Health is a multispecialty physician group that works in partnership with HSHS in Wisconsin.
The new partnership between HSHS and Ministry Door County is anticipated to take effect before the end of the year. Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed.
