These are 10 of the 14 clinicians who are part of a baby boom at St. Joseph's Health Hospital in Syracuse, New York. One obstetrician and 13 nurses in the hospital's Women and Children Services unit have been pregnant with babies due between October 2024 and June 2025.

St. Joseph's Health Hospital in Syracuse, New York, is having a "baby boom" among the staff in its Women and Infant Service unit. One obstetrician and 13 nurses have been pregnant with babies due between October 2024 and June 2025. Six of these babies had been born as of Jan. 3.

Most of these moms-to-be are giving birth in the same hospital where they provide care. St. Joseph's said in a news release that the hospital is "thrilled to share this special journey with its patients, as the women who care for them are also embracing motherhood. Everyone is looking forward to welcoming the newest members of the St. Joseph's Health family."

Heather Shimer-Bero, director of the Women and Infant Service line noted that while there is much excitement in the unit with the arrival or pending arrival of so many babies among staff, the situation "also presents challenges for staffing."

She noted, "We're here for them as they take time with their babies, and they're there for each other like a close-knit group. It's truly special to have a 'work family' that understands exactly what you're going through, from pregnancy to raising children."
