Boeing donates to Mercy charity care programs

July 1, 2012

The Boeing Company plans to donate $1 million over four years to Chesterfield, Mo.-based Mercy to improve health care access for low-income patients in the St. Louis area.

Part of the funds will go toward a $500,000 renovation that Mercy's John F. Kennedy Clinic will complete this year. The clinic — located at Mercy Hospital St. Louis and serving uninsured and underinsured patients — plans to add exam rooms, improve work flow for clinicians and upgrade technology through the construction project.

Mercy will use the remaining Boeing funds to increase Mercy's outreach in inner city St. Louis, with a focus on providing charity care to underserved people.

The aircraft manufacturing company, which has operations in St. Louis, has been donating to Mercy since 1997, including to the JFK Clinic, a heart and vascular hospital and fund-raising events.
