The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has appointed Archbishop-Designate Mitchell Thomas Rozanski as the bishops' conference liaison to the CHA Board of Trustees. Bishop Rozanski will be installed as the Archbishop of St. Louis Aug. 25. He has served as the bishop of the diocese of Springfield, Massachusetts, since August 2014.

On the CHA board, Bishop Rozanski succeeds Archbishop Samuel Joseph Aquila of Denver.

The episcopal liaison helps support the relationship between the bishops' conference and CHA, including by providing the perspective of the bishops' conference to CHA and by helping the bishops to understand the needs of Catholic health care.

"We are so happy that Bishop Rozanski, the newly appointed archbishop of St. Louis, will be serving as USCCB episcopal liaison for CHA," said Sr. Mary Haddad, RSM, CHA president and chief executive officer. "Our CHA members from Springfield, Massachusetts, have shared what a gift he has been to their diocese and how fortunate St. Louis and CHA are to have him.

"I look forward to working with him," she said.

Archbishop-designate Rozanski was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Baltimore in 1984 and served in a series of Baltimore-area parishes until 2004, when Pope John Paul II named him auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. At that time, he was the youngest bishop in the U.S.
