March 1, 2012

Ministry providers were among the health care organizations that a nurse credentialing organization honored last year through its Magnet Recognition Program.

The American Nurses Credentialing Center designates providers as Magnet facilities when they achieve certain quality and nursing practice indicators.

There are nearly 400 Magnet designees nationwide.

Catholic facilities designated or redesignated Magnet sites in 2011 were:

  • Mercy Hospital, Miami
  • Mercy Medical Center, Baltimore
  • Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick, N.J.
  • St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center, Boardman, Ohio
  • St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngs?town, Ohio
  • St. Joseph Health Center, Warren, Ohio
  • St. Joseph Hospital, Orange, Calif.
  • St. Marys Hospital, Madison, Wis.
  • St. Mary's Medical Center, Evansville, Ind.

The designation lasts four years. Facilities can reapply when the designation expires.
