Good Samaritan opens replacement campus

March 15, 2013

Good Samaritan Regional Health Center of Mount Vernon, Ill., has opened a $237 million, 134-bed replacement facility that includes a hospital, medical office building and surgery center.

The facility, which opened Jan. 27, has an emergency department, critical care unit, cardiac rehabilitation gym and cancer care center. Unlike at the legacy campus, the new hospital has all-private rooms with family accommodations. It has decentralized nursing stations so that nurses can be closer to patient rooms. It also has energy-efficient lighting, air conditioning, water and plumbing systems.

Good Samaritan is cosponsored by Felician Services of Chicago and SSM Health Care of St. Louis.
