Faith leaders from around the country spoke at a prayer vigil on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on April 11, encouraging lawmakers to enact sensible gun control measures. The vigil was organized by the Faiths United to Prevent Gun Violence coalition, which planted 3,000 crosses on the Mall to represent the number of Americans killed by gun violence since the Newtown school shooting in December. CHA is a member of the coalition. On April 17, the U.S. Senate voted down a package of gun control legislation.
