High-flying celebration

November 1, 2014

To celebrate the strength of patients fighting breast cancer, employees of Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center of Suffern, N.Y., were among roughly 100 community members who turned out for a "Superhero Day" last month "in recognition of the brave heroes that fight" breast cancer, the hospital said.

Event attendees dressed as superheroes and enjoyed entertainment at the medical center as they raised funds to fight breast cancer — just one of several fundraising events sponsored by the facility during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. By late October, Good Samaritan's breast center had raised more than $7,700 through the events, and Good Samaritan's parent Bon Secours Charity Health System had raised more than $28,100.
