PRESIDENTS/CEOS

Edward J. Condit to president and chief executive for St. Mary's Hospital, Passaic, N.J., from executive vice president and chief operating officer. He replaces Michael Sniffen, who resigned.

Elaine Couture to chief executive for Providence Health Care, Spokane, Wash., from chief executive, Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, Spokane, and Providence Holy Family Hospital, Spokane. She replaces Michael Wilson, who is retiring.

Allan Spooner to president of Columbia St. Mary's Hospital Division, Milwaukee, from president and chief executive at the Rose de Lima Campus of Dignity Health's St. Rose Dominican Hospitals, Henderson, Nev. Spooner will replace interim executive in health care, Marian Purdue.

ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGES

CHRISTUS Health of Irving, Texas, has announced these appointments: Paul Generale to senior vice president and senior finance officer, Sherry Tichenor to vice president of performance effectiveness, Abby Lowe McNeil to system director of communications and public affairs, Fr. Lawrence Chellaian to system director for spiritual care services, and Patricia Nobles to system director and corporate secretary.

Jeff Ogletree to vice president, revenue cycle, for Hospital Sisters Health System, Springfield, Ill.

Steven Squires to director of ethics for Mercy Health, Cincinnati.

Mike House to chief information officer/information technology director for St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va.

Tameeka Christian to director, community wellness, for Saint Anthony Hospital, Chicago.

GRANTS AND GIFTS

Avera Cancer Institute, Sioux Falls, S.D., is among the recipients of a $3.5 million grant from the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust. The funds will go towards personalized treatment options for cancer patients.

St. Claire Regional Medical Center, Morehead, Ky., received a $1.25 million gift, the largest in its history, from the late Betty Lane, a retired Morehead State University librarian. The medical center has not yet determined how it will use the funds.

Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital, Richmond, Va., received $250,000 from Ronald McDonald House Charities in Richmond, to create accommodations for the families of pediatric patients at St. Mary's.

The Cancer Center at Essentia Health – St. Joseph's Medical Center, Brainerd, Minn., received an anonymous $250,000 gift to advance cancer diagnostic and treatment capabilities.

St. Francis Healthcare Foundation of Hawaii, Honolulu, has received a $50,000 grant from the Atherton Family Foundation that goes toward construction of an intergenerational center.

HONOR

Linda Knodel, vice president and chief nursing officer of Mercy's Springfield, Mo., region, has been named president-elect of the American Organization of Nurse Executives for 2013.
