PRESIDENTS/CEOS

Dr. David O'Brien to president, St. Joseph Health – Humboldt County, Eureka, Calif., from interim president. That regional system includes St. Joseph Health Redwood Memorial, Fortuna, Calif., and St. Joseph Health St. Joseph Hospital, Eureka.

Scott M. Street to a special projects role — including implementing changes related to the Affordable Care Act — at Mercy of Chesterfield, Mo., from president, Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas, Rogers, Ark. Eric Pianalto replaces Street as hospital president on an interim basis.

Jennifer L. Sullivan to interim president and chief executive of St. James Mercy Hospital, Hornell, N.Y., from chief financial officer. She replaces Mary E. LaRowe, who has resigned.

Dr. Donald Frey to chief academic officer for Alegent Creighton Health and Alegent Creighton Clinic, both of Omaha, Neb.

Josiah "Sy" Johnson to chief operating officer for the PeaceHealth Columbia Network, Longview, Wash.

Anitra Galmore to vice president of nursing and chief nursing officer for SSM St. Joseph Health Center, St. Charles, Mo.

Dr. Surendra "Sunny" P. Khera to chief medical officer, Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Hartford, Conn.

Yvonne Pellerin to chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care, St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales, La.

Dr. Dan Roth to chief medical officer for Mercy Health, Cincinnati.

Ken Tonjes to interim chief administrative officer for PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center, Ketchikan, Alaska.

Lucy Ferko to senior vice president of clinical institutes and ambulatory services at Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore.

Andrew J. Santos III to senior vice president of mission integration at St. John Providence Health System, Warren, Mich.

Patricia "Patti" Williams to corporate vice president, general counsel, and Yemi Adeyanju to deputy general counsel, both at SSM Health Care, St. Louis.

Arlene McGannon to vice president of mission for St. Joseph's Hospitals, Tampa, Fla.

Lyn McCarthy to executive director, St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation, Bridgeport, Conn.

Mark Yantek to executive director of Regina Health Center, Richfield, Ohio.

Belinda McNutt to director of nursing, Lourdes Nursing Home, Waterford, Mich.

 

GRANTS

St. Francis Medical Center Foundation of Lynwood, Calif., will receive a $750,000 grant from Covered California for outreach to those newly eligible for health insurance.

The Hall-Perrine Cancer Center at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has received a $170,000 grant from Aiming For A Cure Foundation to develop a resource center for family members, caregivers and others impacted by cancer.

Saint Thomas Health, Nashville, Tenn., has received $137,000 in grants from the Greater Nashville affiliate of Susan G. Komen to help women access mammography services.

KentuckyOne Health of Louisville, Ky., has given $100,000 to the Kentucky Cancer Foundation for colon cancer screenings.

 

HONORS

The Chippewa Health Improvement Partnership of St. Joseph's Hospital, Chippewa Falls, Wis., has received the 2013 American Hospital Association NOVA award for its efforts to improve community health.

Mercy's Dr. David Barbe of Mountain Grove, Mo., will chair the American Medical Association Board of Trustees.

Mercy's Dr. Joseph Drozda Jr., in Chesterfield, Mo., will chair the Healthcare Transformation Group's Research and Development Team, a group of physicians and clinical researchers working to develop a global tracking system for implanted medical devices.

 

ANNIVERSARY

St. Claire Regional Medical Center, Morehead, Ky., 50 years.

 

NAME CHANGE

Ascension Health Alliance, St. Louis, the parent company of Ascension Health as well as all of the subsidiary organizations, is now called Ascension. The organization's public juridic person is now called Ascension Sponsor.
