Three Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother are taking on new roles with St. Louis-based Ascension and the system's public juridic person, Ascension Sponsor. The women's appointments follow Ascension's recent addition of Marian Health System, a Tulsa, Okla.-based system formerly sponsored by the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother. The Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother now join four other "participating entities," or congregations that once sponsored systems that are now part of Ascension.
Sr. Lois Bush, SSM, now serves as the participating entity representative for her congregation for Ascension Sponsor. She also continues as senior vice president of mission and culture integration for Ministry Health Care of Milwaukee.
Sr. Catherine Marie Hanegan, SSM, has been appointed to a three-year term as one of 10 current members of Ascension Sponsor.
Ascension Health has named Sr. Therese Gottschalk, SSM, senior executive advisor to Ascension Health President and Chief Executive Robert J. Henkel. Sr. Gottschalk was president and chief executive of Marian Health System. She will continue to serve on the boards of the regional systems that formerly were part of Marian Health System: Ministry Health Care, St. John Health System of Tulsa, and Via Christi Health of Wichita, Kan.
