Liz Dunne will become president and chief executive of PeaceHealth, the Vancouver, Wash.-based Catholic health system with facilities in Washington, Oregon and Alaska, on Nov. 1. She will be responsible for all operations in the $2 billion not-for-profit system, including 10 hospitals, an 800-member multispecialty group practice and a comprehensive laboratory, the system said in a news release.

Dunne has been community chief executive for Providence Health & Services' South Bay, Calif., region, with oversight of two hospitals and six care sites in Torrance and San Pedro. She has worked for Providence since 2011. Her past health care experience includes executive officer positions in California with City of Hope in Duarte, and Memorial Health Services in Fountain Valley. Dunne also served
10 years in the U.S. Air Force on active duty and 10 years in the Air Force Reserve, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. She is a registered dietitian.

Sr. Andrea Nenzel, CSJP, chair of the PeaceHealth System Board of Directors, told PeaceHealth employees in an electronic memo that Dunne was selected after the system's first national search for a chief executive. Nenzel said Dunne has a proven ability to navigate in complex, competitive markets and that she'll work closely with other senior leaders to advance the system's population health work.

She succeeds Alan Yordy, who retired as PeaceHealth's president and chief mission officer on June 30.
