Rod Donovan, a retired Holy Name Medical Center employee and New Jersey beekeeper, established two beehives in the rooftop garden of the Teaneck, New Jersey, hospital in the spring. At top, Donovan sets up the beehive boxes in May. In the middle photos, Donovan harvests the honey in late June. Each hive has one queen and more than 60,000 bees. The hives have produced 60 pounds of raw, or unpasteurized, honey. In bottom photo, bottles of Holy Name Honey are on sale this summer in the hospital’s gift shop.
