Dr. Donna Marie Fick, Ph.D., is a distinguished professor at The Pennsylvania State University College of Nursing, Elouise Ross Eberly Professor of Nursing and Director of the Penn State Center for Geriatric Nursing Excellence. She is a member of the interdisciplinary panel for the American Geriatrics Society Beers Criteria (AGS) for inappropriate medication use in older adults, and serves on the American Geriatrics Society Board. She has co-chaired the Beers Criteria since 2001. She also serves as an expert faculty member and coach on Creating an Age Friendly Health System Initiative funded by the John A. Hartford Foundation and led by the Institute of Healthcare Improvement.
Dr. Fick is nationally and internationally recognized as a leading expert in geriatrics and is best known for her work on delirium superimposed on dementia Dr. Fick widely disseminates her work in over 100 publications, national media coverage, national and international presentations, as well as through her work with the John A. Hartford Foundation. Dr. Fick received her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Berea College, her master of science in nursing degree from the University of Cincinnati, and her doctorate degree from the University of California, San Francisco. She served as a visiting professor at the Aging Brain Center, Institute for Aging Research, Hebrew SeniorLife, and an affiliate of Harvard Medical School from 2013-2014.
