CHA' s 2021 Theology and Ethics Colloquium will examine global approaches to palliative care, initiatives to combat racism through health equity, compassionate end-of-life care for patients and families, and the distinctive vocation of Catholic health ethicists.

Distinguished keynote speakers will join us live from Geneva, the U.S. and Sydney, Australia to address best practices and engage in dialogue with Colloquium participants.

In light of international time zones, there will be two presentations from 10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. ET, followed by a lunch break and social hour from 2 – 3 p.m. ET, and two presentations from 3 – 6 p.m. ET


Featured Faculty and Topics

  • Dr. Marie-Charlotte Bouësseau, advisor, Service Delivery and Safety (SDS), World Health Organization in Geneva, will discuss international issues and global approaches to palliative care.
  • Yolonda Wilson, Ph.D., associate professor, health care ethics, Saint Louis University, will focus on the impact of racism on health equity and combating disparities in health care.
  • Thomas Lynch, undertaker, poet and author of The Undertaking: Life Studies from the Dismal Trade, a winner of an American Book Award and finalist for the National Book Award. He will reflect on compassionate care and presence for patients and families during end-of-life care and beyond.
  • World renowned bioethicist and scholar Archbishop Anthony Fisher, OP, Ph.D., Archbishop of Sydney, Australia. Archbishop Fisher will discuss the theological foundation of Catholic moral theology and engage in discussion around the distinctive vocation of ethicists in the Catholic health ministry worldwide.

Participants will receive an email with information on how to acquire a Certificate of Attendance following the program (typically included in the program evaluation email). Certificates of Attendance may be submitted to relevant organizations that accept proof of contact hours as credit. These include:

American College of Healthcare Executives: American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) members may self-report qualifying CEUs using the contact hour information provided on their CHA Certificate of Attendance.
