ANAHEIM (June 4, 2013) – Deborah A. Proctor, president and chief executive officer, St. Joseph Health, Irvine, CA, has been installed as chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Catholic Health Association of the United States (CHA) for fiscal year 2013-14.
In an election held during the 2013 Catholic Health Assembly in Anaheim, June 2-4, Alan R. Yordy, MBA, FACHE, president and chief mission officer, PeaceHealth, Vancouver, WA, was chosen vice chairperson/chairperson-elect for fiscal year 2013-14. He will lead the CHA board in fiscal year 2014-15.
Elected to three-year terms on the board were:
- Adrienne Y. Crowe, MBA, former board chairperson, Catholic Healthcare West (now Dignity Health), San Francisco, and board member, Mercy Housing, Denver (Second Term)
- Peter L. DeAngelis, Jr., CPA, MBA, FHFMA, executive vice president, CHE Trinity Health and president, CHE Division (First Term)
- Deborah A. Fischer-Clemens, MHA, BSN, senior vice president, Avera Center for Public Policy, Avera Health, Sioux Falls, SD (First Term)
- Robert J. Henkel, FACHE, president and chief executive officer, Ascension Health, and executive vice president, Ascension Health Alliance, St. Louis (First Term)
- Robert Issai, MBA, president and chief executive officer, Daughters of Charity Health System, Los Altos Hills, CA (Second Term)
- Matthew J. Lambert III, MD, MBA, FACS, FACHE, senior vice president, Physician Advisory Services, Kaufman, Hall & Associates, Inc., Skokie, IL, and former board member, Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System (now SCL Health System), Denver (First Term)
- Kevin E. Lofton, MHA, FACHE, president and chief executive officer, Catholic Health Initiatives, Englewood, CO (First Term)
- Most Reverend George Leo Thomas, Ph.D., Bishop, Diocese of Helena, Helena, MT (First Term)
- Richard R. Vath, MD, FCCP, chief medical officer, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge, LA (Second Term)
CHA's board consists of 23 trustees, including Sr. Carol Keehan, DC, CHA president and chief executive officer. In addition, Rhonda E. Mueller, CHA's senior vice president, finance and operations, serves as Corporate Treasurer, and Lisa J. Gilden, JD, CHA's vice president and general counsel, serves as Corporate Secretary.
The board’s role includes developing CHA’s strategic direction, ensuring CHA’s fidelity to its mission, stewarding CHA’s resources and performing other governance activities to support and strengthen the Catholic health ministry in the United States.
