Local leaders report that the community continues to recover from Imelda, and conditions are improving. Community utilities, including power, water and sewage to the hospital remain stable. Two other buildings on the CHRISTUS Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth Hospital campus may have been impacted by water damage, so work continues today to assess additional issues.

Thirteen Registered Nurses from CHRISTUS St. Michael in Texarkana were ready within two hours last night to travel to Beaumont to support their CHRISTUS family at St. Elizabeth in the ICU and Telemetry areas. They left St. Michael around 7:30 p.m. in transportation arranged by the Command Center, and arrived at St. Elizabeth around 1:30 this morning. Local leaders met them upon their arrival, and have confirmed they are already integrated and supporting the team at St. Elizabeth.

Five Security officers from CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini in Alexandria were also expected to arrive at St. Elizabeth this morning to help ensure all access points to the hospital are appropriately managed.

Triage continues in the front lobby, but the temporary ED has been relocated to the Second floor of the hospital (from the Fourth). Remediation in the ED continues. Elective surgeries at both St. Elizabeth and Baptist have been canceled for today, but we are hoping to return to full operations next week.

Local leaders are working to learn which Associates might have had homes or other possessions lost or impacted by the storm and to support their needs. They appreciate your prayers of support for our Associates  and all those impacted by Imelda.
