Question: Our hospital sponsors (pays for) a movement program called GoNoodle in a local elementary school. This is a science-based program of videos and games designed to improve behavior, attentiveness and academic performance.
Can we report the contribution as community benefit?
Recommendation: We recommend reporting as community benefit contributions to schools for programs that promote student health and academic performance when the contribution is in response to an identified community health need. The contribution should be accompanied with a letter that specifies that the purpose of the contribution is to address community health needs related to obesity, lack of exercise and/or education-related needs and that the funds are to be used for a program that has demonstrated it improves health and/or education .
